Dance asks questions
While everyone is looking for what separates the “before world” from the “after world”, choreographers are asking questions. Feminism, the climate crisis and community engagement are at the heart of the questions choreographers are asking. Dancers and choreographers got involved long before the crisis we are now experiencing. In Paris in 1932, the German choreographer Kurt Joos created The Green Table, a piece that foretells future atrocities. That same year in New York, a group of dancers chanted "Dance is a weapon". But is dance a reflection of the present or a gun loaded with the future ?
